TBT Project Life 2015 Final Layout! Weeks 27- 30

Alright, guys, I am so ready to finish up this album and I have literally smashed four weeks into two pages. Have a look at my process video for these last two pages in the 2015 album!

Ok, so these layouts are back to back, and I placed them into the same photo to show you the layouts to start:

And these are the layouts completed:

So for both of these layouts I didn't have a lot of photos, and the dates on the photos span a total of about four weeks. And you know what? That really is ok. At this point in the album, it is safe to say that I have documented the year of 2015 rather well, and so smashing these weeks together really is ok. For the first layout, Weeks 27 & 28, I chose some of Shimelle's products to bring the layout together.

TBT Project Life 2015 | Weeks 27-30

These products are from Shimelle's True Stories collection, and I chose it because of the bright, happy colors and the fun elements. The transparency is an older one from Allison Kreft/Webster's Pages from several years ago.

I have used that transparency across the page and then I like to staple elements to the top of the page protector on this side.

One of my favorites embellishments from this collection are the wooden buttons! They are a little thick for the small pockets, but I used them anyway. They are too much fun to not use. Here is a look at this layout inside the album:

For the next layout I still used the same collection, and now I chose one of Shimelle's journaling cards for the date card.

For the transparencies on this side, I simply used red line tape to adhere the elements on top of the page protector. I also love the look of the vellum word strips on top of this red flower. So pretty!

In the spirit of simplicity and getting things done, I left the yellow card just as it was. Notice how I have used the floral embellishments in the corners so they don't take over.

I used another flower in the bottom corner, this one is blue. These colors are a lot of fun to work with and they seem to flow seamlessly in with the rest of the album.

Part of me finds it hard to believe that this project is done, but the rest of me is incredibly excited. I will post a video tomorrow to celebrate completing this and to announce what is coming up next in the TBT series! I will see you then!

TBT Project Life 2015 Week 25 | Pink Paislee Citrus Bliss

Hi guys, it's another TBT layout and I am working with a layout from my Project Life 2015 album, Week 25, using Pink Paislee's Citrus Bliss collection. I am also still using Gossamer Blue's June 2015 kit. Here is a look at the process:

I decided since this was about the last day of school, to include an insert. The layout itself shows our elementary school children with their respective teachers, and the insert shows the one who graduated from elementary.

Here is Side B of the insert, and the layout that will be part of next week's process:

Here is the layout plus Side A, completed:

And this is insert Side B:

TBT Project Life 2015 Week 25

If you are wondering why only three children are shown here, keep in mind that middle school children no longer invite parents for the last day of school! So last days become extra important in elementary school, because they are truly numbered. I think it is important, when possible, to capture our children with their teachers. I haven't been able to do that every year, but this year I was able to and the children were each excited to have their photo taken with their teachers.

TBT Project Life 2015 Week 25

I included a tiny bit of journaling about who each teacher was and how the school year had been for each child. For me, it is important to document these small details because these actually become the spark for our children's memories themselves. In future years, I hope that our children will be able to reference these photos and be able to actually remember for themselves what it was like being in Mrs. Flynt's classroom. That is hard to do if we can't even remember her name, or what year it was. The information gathered on these cards becomes more than just a hobby, it becomes an active portion of memory recall.

TBT Project Life 2015 Week 25

I am so thankful that Project Life provides space to tell these smaller details that might get lost on a traditional layout.

TBT Project Life 2015 Week 25

And even as I do Project Life more and more, for longer periods of time and over several years, the telling of these stories gets easier and more obvious. And even though this story is filled with smaller stories, it is also an overall telling of the story of the last day of school. But notice I didn't even have to spell out in big title letters, "Hey ya'll, this is the last day of school!"

TBT Project Life 2015 Week 25

It is actually the journaling that tells us this is the last day of school, and it tells us a bit more than that. For Nick, this was the end of something he had been doing for six years - getting on the same bus, walking the same halls, eating at the same lunch tables......and again, this becomes part of his memory bank.

TBT Project Life 2015 Week 25

So that is all for today and all for this week. I have a wedding show coming up on Saturday that I cannot wait to tell you all about on Monday!!! So I will be preparing for that and then on Monday I hope to share some photos of how that went and how I set up my booth! I'll see you then!
